Moving a drum kit is a job in itself. Shells, hardware, cymbal bags, a bass drum that barely fits in a car. For a college fest, a café gig or a studio session, most drummers in Pune don't want to haul their own kit across town, and plenty of bands don't have a drummer who owns a kit at all. Renting one that arrives set up is the easier way.

The listings state that the rental cost includes transport to your venue and full setup. That is the big difference from renting a kit you pick up yourself. You don't need a car big enough for a bass drum, and you don't need to spend an hour tuning and placing stands before soundcheck.
What comes with each kit
All three kits come with Zildjian K series cymbals: a pair of 14" hi-hats, 16" and 18" crashes, a 20" ride, a 10" splash and an 18" China. The K series has a darker, warmer sound than entry-level cymbals, and it is a set many drummers would be happy to own.
The Tama and Pearl Masters listings also mention a Pearl double bass pedal, cymbal stands and complete hardware. The Pearl Decade listing includes the cymbals and hardware for its smaller setup. If you need something specific, like a particular throne height, a cowbell or a second snare, ask when the lender calls you back.
Which kit should you rent?
Tama Imperial Star: the gig workhorse
At Rs. 6,600 a day this is the most affordable full kit on the list, and it is a proper five-piece with two rack toms. It suits college fests, café and pub gigs, church and community events, and band practice before a big show. The Zildjian K cymbals lift it well above what you would expect at this price.
Pearl Decade Maple: the smaller, punchy setup
The Decade uses a 20" bass drum and a 14" floor tom, which gives a tighter, punchier sound and takes up less stage. It works well for jazz, funk, acoustic sets and small venues where a 22" kick would be too boomy. Maple shells give it a warm tone that records nicely.
Pearl Masters Maple: the studio and headline pick
The Masters is Pearl's professional line. At Rs. 11,000 a day, it is the kit for recording sessions, music videos and headline sets where the drums have to sound their best. The deeper 14x6.5" snare gives a fatter backbeat.
Just the cymbals
If the venue has a house kit but the cymbals are cracked or cheap, which happens a lot, the Zildjian K pack at Rs. 3,500 a day fixes most of the problem. It is also handy for studio sessions where you like your own shells but want better cymbals on the recording.
Acoustic kit or electronic kit?
Some venues ask for an electronic kit because of noise limits, especially in residential buildings and smaller cafés. The kits listed here are all acoustic. An acoustic kit sounds better in a room, feels better to play, and needs no amp or sound card. The trade-off is volume: a full kit with K cymbals is loud, and in a small space the sound engineer may need to mic it gently or ask you to play softer.

Tips for a smooth gig
- Share the stage size. A five-piece with six cymbal stands needs room. Tell the lender if the stage is small.
- Fix setup and pickup times. Setup should finish before soundcheck. Agree when the kit will be packed so it does not clash with the next act.
- Bring your own sticks and throne pad. Sticks are personal, and they are the one thing you should always carry.
- Carry your pedal if you are picky. The kits include a Pearl double pedal, but if you are used to your own, bring it.
- Book early for fest season. College fests, Ganpati and New Year's Eve are when kits get booked out.
